By combining the butter with food waste and cow manure, the farm’s state-of-the-art biodigester system transforms this unlikely blend into a renewable energy powerhouse. Jack Klapper, the co-owner of Noblehurst Farms, proudly shares, “The 800 pounds of recycled butter will be able to power a home for roughly three to five days.”

Diverting Food Waste, Generating Renewable Energy

Noblehurst Farms’ sustainable efforts extend far beyond the fairgrounds, as they collect food waste from various sources, including grocery stores, restaurants, and universities across the region. “We divert about 60 to 70 tons of food waste a day when we take it to our dairy farm,” Klapper reveals, “Diverting that waste from landfills and creating renewable energy and electricity from it.”
